THE PHILOSOPHY OF SCHÖN STUDIOS

Perspective: A particular attitude towards or way of regarding something; a point of view.

Each of us holds our own version of reality, moulded and filtered by our beliefs and experiences. To see the world from a different perspective is to see the world with new eyes. How does one alter their perspective? Through experiencing life. With each day, and each new experience, our perspective shifts.

At Schön Studios, we are intrigued by the idea of shifting perspectives, a process that can be both unsettling and refreshing.

Schröder's Staircase (illustration above) is an optical illusion—the two-dimensional drawing can be perceived either as a staircase leading downwards from left to right or as the same staircase turned upside down—a classic example of perspective reversal in the psychology of perception. Named after the German natural scientist Heinrich G. F Schröder and published in 1858.

Schröder's Staircase serves as a powerful metaphor for both art and life. Whether the staircase appears to be going up or down depends on your perspective. Similarly, your art can be anything you envision, simply by shifting your viewpoint. You hold the power to choose how you see the world, and this perception can change over time.

At Schön Studios, we believe that creating and experiencing art can foster a deeper understanding of the diverse perspectives that shape our world. This belief is the foundation of Schön Studios.
